Barrow was also the home of soppy-drink enterprise Marsh's, which produced a distinctive sarsaparilla-flavoured fizzy drink called Sass.[183] Marsh's was acquired by Purity Smooth Drinks of Birmingham in 1993, and the business stopped making Sass in 1999. Remaining bottles have subsequently bought for top price ranges as being a collector's item.[1
